Founded in 1997, The Human Fund is a virtual charity founded by George Costanza. The idea for the Human Fund goes back to George's childhood and his family tradition of celebrating "Festivus". His father, Frank Costanza, "hated all the commercial and religious aspects of Christmas, so he made up his own holiday". It was a "Festivus for the rest of us!"
Instead of a tree with distracting tinsel, a pole made from aluminum was used as it required no decoration, as well as having a very high strength-to-weight ratio. A traditional Festivus dinner was celebrated on December 23rd, and started with the airing of grievances. Festivus also included the "feats of strength". Festivus would not be over until George had pinned his father.
